Did you know giffgaff runs on the O2 network? With the deal below no other service providers offer this deal at such a low price.
Here’s My Story:
There I was a O2 customer love my Smart phones but I was at the time paying £42 a month way over the odds but at the time Apple iPhone 4s was the latest baby to own.
Oh I loved the phone or at least I did until Apple started making silly changes to next in line iPhone 5 it just wasn't for me I didn't like there changes.
This got me thinking about upgrades and I was about to ditch Apple so I looked into the options. After a year into the 2 year contract I found out I could downgrade my contract as I wasn't using nowhere near the 600 mins talk time. My main thing was doing Facebook and twitter on my phone. I rarely sent text messages or called anyone it was just used to contact the wife that was it. So I Rang O2 and got £10 a month off my contract making my bill £32 a month. Still a lot of money to pay.
Being a gadget freak, towards the end of my contract I was looking on the market place for the latest phone, as I wasn't going to be getting the iPhone 5. I kind of liked the idea of Android based phones and having done loads of research I fell in love with the Samsung S4. But that said I didn't want a contract, so I came up with the idea of why don't I sell my iPhone 4s ? Put the money towards a Samsung S4, so with this in mind I set out to find a buyer for my iPhone I did this with no problem.
Then I started looking for Good Deals on the Samsung S4, I found someone on Gumtree of all places that had upgraded to the Samsung S4 they had it sealed in the box and had a receipt to prove ownership and it was a sim free version. So with the money I had got for my much loved iPhone 4s and putting just £50 to it, I got me a brand new sim free S4 which I use to this day.
As a gadget freak, although I am happy with it I wish I had got the Samsung Note 3. It has a bigger screen and my eyesight isn't the best. Getting old! Lol. But I do love the Samsung S4 great phone. Again I wasn't really happy with my O2 contract so I was looking for a better deal. The main problem with the O2 was the Internet side of the contract plus it was so expensive compared to other service providers.
I did loads of research and came across giffgaff. They seemed to come out on top for my needs. For £10 a month I get 500 Anytime minutes (I don't come close to using these), Unlimited texts and 1 Gig of data that I use for email and texts or where I turn my phone into a mobile Hotspot so I can tether my tablet or my camera to it and get full internet. If you’re not going to tether, for an extra £2 you can get unlimited data but at this time they don't offer the tether option with this deal so that’s why I’m on the £10 goody bag.
But the best part about this I was able to transfer my number once my O2 contract had come to an end. Actually giffgaff runs on O2 anyway, as does Tesco mobile they all use O2! So you get the exact same coverage as if you was a O2 customer but for a lot less money. So how much have I saved? Let’s do the math.
To get the latest smart phone I sold my iPhone 4s plus added £50 to get a brand new S4 on O2 at the time it was again £42 a month.
Samsung upgrade = £50
giffgaff deal for 2 years would be £240 but you can cancel at any time = 240
Total cost £290 and I get a sim deal that meets my needs.
The O2 option Brand new Samsung S4 free (well so they have us believe) but tied into a 2-year contract.
£42 a month over 2 years = £1.016 and the contract would cost even more if O2 did 1 gig of data allowance at the time of writing they had an option but it was silly money.
So £290 verses £1.016 = £726 and if you had the money to buy the latest new unlocked Smart phone you would have £776 just to match O2 but actually you get more Data and can cancel anytime with giffgaff so your still better off.
I have been using giffgaff for 8 months now and I’m very happy with the service and cost.
